You need to have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent to apply for a master's degree in Finland. University master’s degrees take 2 years of full-time study, amounting to 120 ECTS credits. UAS master's degrees take 1-1.5 years to complete, and amount to 60–90 ECTS credits.
To be eligible to apply to a UAS master’s programme, you also need to have gained at least 2 years of work experience in the field after completing your bachelor’s degree. (University Master's do not usually include this work experience requirement.)
These are more academic-research oriented and focus on developing critical-thinking skills along with practical training with projects.
These emphasize more on hands-on experience and practical training for professional settings.
Start by searching for the study programs you'd wish to apply to in the studyinfo.fi database. After choosing your programs, it is easy for you to check the application period and other admission-related details with those particular universities. Usually you have to submit your application on the same website that is mentioned above. But there are some programs that require you to apply from the university's website directly (it can be in the case of a separate application)
With joint application you have the possibility to apply twice a year. You can use one application to apply for a maximum of 6 programs. It saves you a lot of time and simply with one application you apply for many programs. These programs can be in one university or in many universities.
With separate application you have to apply separately for each program. You might have to submit documents separately as well. It is always better to check the requirements from the program website.
Usually for getting admission in a bachelor program in Finland, you need to have:
Matric and Intermediate degrees (attested from HEC and IBCC)
IELTS, PTE Academic, TOEFL
Entrance exam (either UAS, SAT or university's own entrance exam)
Note: Make sure to check the exact requirements from the program website in which you are intending to apply! These attestations (HEC or IBCC) are needed if you are applying from Pakistan otherwise please check your requirements based on your home country.
Usually in universities you don't have to give any entrance exam. There are a few universities that takes exam or invite you for an interview (online). It is always best to check the program website for all the details.
Mostly the admission results are announced in March/April for studies starting in Autumn (August). After that you have to apply for a student residence permit if you have accepted to any of the programs.
